Golden was Jon Theodore’s first major band he played in. He helped form the band shortly after he started attending Oberlin College and recorded and toured with them for about ten years. Throughout their discography you can hear Jon’s drumming evolve and grow with styles and techniques that would later be used in The Mars Volta.

“Ian Eagleson, Philip Manley, Alex Minoff and Jon Theodore formed Golden while attending Oberlin College in the early 1990s. For ten years they traversed musical territories from Africa to ZZ Top. While they’ve all been in much more heralded groups (Trans Am, Mars Volta, The Fucking Champs, Extra Golden, Life Coach, Weird War, Queens of the Stone Age), Golden will always be special to them.”
