The Marble Shrine is a fan-run, non-commercial archive. We collect the minimum needed to run accounts and streaming, we don't sell or share anything, and you can delete everything yourself. Last updated July 4, 2026.
What we collect
- Account basics — a username, display name, and email address, used to sign you in and (only if you ask, e.g. a password reset) to email you.
- Sign-in links — if you use Sign in with Apple or Google, we store a one-way hash of the provider's account identifier so we can recognize you next time. We never see your password for those services.
- Listening activity — which recordings you play, so your profile can show your own listening stats and the charts page can show aggregate trends.
- Favorites & collection — shows you favorite and releases you mark as owned.
Cookies
The site uses a session cookie to keep you signed in, a CSRF cookie to protect signed-in actions, and a preference cookie for your light/dark theme. The website also uses Google Analytics for anonymous page-view counts. The mobile app does not load any analytics — no tracking, no ads, no third-party SDKs beyond sign-in.
The mobile app
- Shows you save for offline listening are stored only on your device. You can review and remove them under the app's Settings.
- Playback position and queue live on your device.
- The app talks only to our own servers (plus Apple/Google if you use their sign-in).
Deleting your data
Your profile page has a Delete account button. It permanently removes your streaming account, profile, favorites, collection, and listening history from our servers — immediately, no email required. Offline downloads on your own device are yours to keep or delete.
What we never do
- No selling or sharing of personal data with anyone.
- No advertising, ad networks, or cross-site tracking.
- No collection of location, contacts, photos, or anything else from your device.
