Ben has been described as a sociopath by Omar and Cedric who blame him for bullying Julio Venegas into committing suicide. He only briefly played in At the Drive-In, appearing on the album El Gran Orgo and touring with them in 1997. He was removed from the band partway through the tour. Drummer Tony Hajjar has described him as manipulative.
