Startled Calf was a punk band from El Paso Texas. It is the first known band to feature Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, with him on vocal duties. Bassist Jimmy Hernandez would die of cancer in 1995. Startled Calf played some shows in the early 90s throughout El Paso, there most famous being at Coronado High School in 1991 when the police stopped the show mid-performance. An EP was released following their break-up. A rerecording of some of their material was later released on Red Ear Records.
